PRESENTATION ON QUESTION GUESTION NO: 38

TED 501: EDUCATIONAL MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY
Qn, 38. In the environment were energy is a problem how can one teach and have the same effect of educational media and technology to his or her learners.
WHAT IS THE ENVIROMENT?
Environment is everything that makes up our surroundings and affects our ability to live on the earth, such as air we breathe, the water that covers most of the earth surface, the plants and animals around us (www.factmonster.com/ipka/htm).
Environment is the sum total of all surroundings of living organism, including natural forces and other living things which provide conditions for development and growth as well as of danger and damage(www.bussinessdictionary.com/definition/enviroment.htm).
Generally, environment is the complex set of physical, geographical, biological, social, cultural and political conditions that surrounds an individual or organisms.
ENERGY
Energy is the ability of doing work or is the capacity of a system to do work. A system may be a car, a kite rising on the wind, a human body, and wave of light crossing a space. Human creates machines that do work for them that derive energy from fuels (www.api.org/oil and natural gas overview.htm).
FORMS OF ENERGY
·         Mechanical energy (potential energy and kinetic energy)
·         Solar (radiant) energy which comes from the sun
·         Thermal energy (heat energy)
·         Chemical energy
·         Electrical energy due to movement of electrons
·         Electromagnetic energy which include radio waves and X-rays
·         Nuclear energy which is found in the nuclear structure.
Media is the type of channel used to transmit knowledge or means of communication to reach many people (Direct, 1994).
Educational Media refers to channels of communication that carry messages with an instructional purpose. It is usually used for the sole purpose of learning and teaching such as the use of computer, projector, television and radio.

Educational Technology sometimes termed EdTech, is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources.
In Educational Media and Technology we normally use electrical energy as a source of power to derive devices or equipments which are used in the process of teaching and learning such as Computer, Projector, Television and Radio.
In the Environment where energy is a problem one can teach and have the same effect of educational media and technology to his or her learners by using the following source of powers:
SOLAR ENERGY
This is the energy which comes from the sun. In order to get solar energy one must have the following equipments; Solar panel, Battery, wire and invetor which are connected together. This Lakewood, Colorado home was built in 1956. Brent and Mo Nelson upgraded the home with multiple solar technologies including; daylighting, passive solar and active solar. They also have an 80 gallon solar hot water heater. | Photo by Dennis Schroeder, National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Rooftop Solar Challenge II Teams Announced

BIOGAS
This refers to a gas produced by break down of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. These organic materials are animal dung (manure), sewage municipal waste, and green waste materials.

GENERATOR
This is a machine which is used to convert mechanical energy to electrical energy by the use of fuel such as diesel and petrol. bigger product imagehttp://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/v1/695726064/1500w_light_weight_magnetic_electric_generator.jpg_200x200.jpg

WIND POWER
Is the convention of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as using wind turbines to make
electrical energy.

BATTERIES
These include dry cells and wet cells (Accumulators). These are devices that convert stored chemical energy into electrical energy.

Generally, Educational Media and Technology now days is applicable and brought the same effect to the environment where energy is available and where it is a problem, this is because of the availability of energy source which are environmental friend, such as generator, batteries, wind, solar and biogas. In this sense one who teaches in the environment where energy is problem should be more creative in order to bring the same effect of educational media and technology to his or her learners. Therefore alternative to those sources of energies discussed above in the environment where energy is a problem or not available a teacher can use traditional technology such as print media like books, journals, charts, diagrams, magazines, news papers, public documents and circulars in teaching. A part from print media, a teacher can use real things and models in teaching learners so as to bring the same effects of educational media and technology.

  1. STILL POSTING SOME PICTURES WITHIN THE PRESENTATION NEEDS SOME GUTS BECAUSE UP NOW WE ARE WORKING OUT TO FIND HOW WE CAN MAKE PICTURES TO BE EASILY DISPLAYED TOGETHER WHEN POSTING DIFFERENT POSTS.
TOLERANCE IS NEEDED GUYS, AS WE TOLD YOU THAT, WE ARE POSTING THOSE PRESENTATIONS WITHOUT PICTURES SO THAT WE COULD PROCEED READING THE CONTENTS.
WE ARE SORRY FOR INCONVENIENCES AGAIN.
