Meaning of educational technology
• Educational Technology is the study and ethical
practice of facilitating learning, which is the learning and improving
performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes
and resources in and out of the classroom that might prove helpful in advancing
student learning and may be measured in how and why individuals behave.
Tools used in Educational media and
technology
• For the environment like of Makete district
which consist problems related to educational maters, such as lack and poor
educational infrastructure, absence of electricity, lack of learning and
teaching facilities like books, projector, computer and lack access of internet
• A teacher may or must employ the following
techniques and ways to teach history subject
with educational technology in mind on such environment
·
Encouraging of study tour, in which teachers should
encourage and organise students to visit sources of historical information like
Engaluka, Olduvai George and Bujora in case a teacher is teaching about sources
of historical information
• Generating source of energy for instance solar
energy, generator, battery and biogas purposely to ensure a teacher and
students integrating with educational technology in teaching and learning
history
• A teacher should use television video in the
classroom by inserting tape recorder that contain picture and sound
information, for instance a tape recorder contains information about
colonisation of Africa, therefore students can learn through vision and
hearing.
• Use
of colour printed picture that explain historical events for example evolution
of man in different area for instance in Africa and Europe purposely to
increase level of understanding.
• Use of projector that uses minimum voltage of
energy called solar projector in order to facilitate learning and understanding
abilities.
• Use of relevant carvings in the classroom that
reflect the content for instance a teacher can use a carvings to show the student
how African societies were living together as a community.
• Use of globe, for instance to show routes on how slave trade was
conducted in Africa
Teachers should cope and be creative according to the
environment purposely to ensure teacher and students are integrating with
educational media and technology.
