INTEGRATION OF EDUCATIONAL MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY IS A PROBLEM TO MANY SCHOOLS. IF YOU WERE THE HEADMASTER. HOW COULD YOU ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS TO USE MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY AT YOUR SCHOOL?

Educational media is the process through which individuals become media literate able to critically understand the nature techniques and impacts of media massage and productions. (Wiki.answers.com).

Educational media is the learning process which used to share information between teacher, learner and all learning materials and give immediate feedback.

Education technology is the use of technology to improve education. It is a systematic iterative process for designing instruction or training used to improve performance (en.wikipedia.org/…/educational technology).

Educational media and technology is a systematic way of designing, implementing and evaluating the total process of learning teaching by employing a combination of human and scientific equipment to bring about effective instruction (Coffrey, 1977).

The educational media and technology become as the problem in many schools due to the following obstacles.

Time is one of the biggest obstacles because it takes for teachers to learn the technology, skills, the time it takes fully integrate technology into the curriculum, the way it could be and the time to share what we are doing so we can learn and get new ideas from each other.

Money also has to be needed to purchase on updating software and hardware. It is a problem because our technology allocation is very limited and teachers have expensive requests we must resort to hold fund raisers from our education partners in community.

Teacher’s fears by then teachers are creatures of habit they need to be motivated to reach out of that shell and experience the new technology. Same teachers did not believe more in computer integrations better.

The following are the ways on how to encourage the students and teachers to use media and technology at the school.

Through updating teacher’s professional, teachers have not a skill on education media and technology through encouraging those teachers to update their profession. They will b able to integrate educational media and education technology to their students example. They will be able to use projector, computer by updating Hardware and Soft ware on regular basis because it is upon our daily.

 Through preparing learning and teaching technology environment like buying different device’s such as computer, Audio visual, Audio projector, printer, modem because teaching and learning process is done by doing which can encourage the teacher and students to use these devices. Also to improve computer room which can help the development of learners knowledge and skills.

Through creating blog of the school which will contain all information, whereby through school blog students and teachers will have given a chance to share information about academic matters. This will help students and teachers to create their own blogs. All school matters will be put into the blog so that it will force students and teachers to visit blog frequently due to that will help the integration of educational media and technology in schools.

 Through encouraging teachers and students to use of media and technology in school whereby different programs will be introduced in school that will help to teach students and teachers on how to use media and technology. For example excel power point, Microsoft word and other programs.

Through providing motivation to teacher and student, this was happen when the teacher and students who muster well the using of media technology by giving various reinforcement in order to help other learners to work hard.

Through improving school infrastructure, example of infrastructure of the school in the office and in the classes by using projector in order to facilitate the lessons.

Through finding an alternative sources of power in schools like solar power and generator in school which can help to facilitate communication though using solar power as electricity for different purpose like charging phones for light at night. When teacher making preparation of the lesson, for teaching students at evening. Also solar power used for watching television in order to get different information in the world as well as it used to drive different machine like photocopy machines and other activities which need electricity.

 
Finally, the integration of educational media and technology the headmaster will be able to encourage the teachers and students to acquire those skills of educational media and technology and these programs should be included in curriculum that will guide everyone to use it.
