q Education
needs to transmit knowledge and skills to individuals so that they can adjust
to the changing environment. So new media plays very important roles in
transmitting these knowledge and skills to individual through motivating
Learners to study, managing time of teaching and creating interaction of all
sense organs during learning and teaching.
q The education faces the challenges
of registering, applying for support and all other details involved with
enrollment. This also could be easily solved by using new media and increasing
the enrollment and learning to occur easily among learners. The use of internet
access in computers, smart phones and iPod do simplify the work of sending and
receiving information pertaining education and enrollment.
q Motivational needs where the
learners and facilitators are supposed to be encourage especially in learning
and teaching, the use of media plays important roles in encouraging the
students to learn as well as teachers to teach since new media reduce the
boredom of the subject, increase interest among learners on particular subject
as well as reducing drop-out of many students
•
Although we have educational need for which the use of
new media might potentially enhance learning, but still the education is facing
a number of problems such as follows;
•
Lack
of infrastructural support
The
inadequate supply of power and unreliable supply of electricity affects much
the use of media in education. In order to solve this problem we need to use
other sources of power such as solar panel especially in rural areas.
q Lack of expert especially on the
use and maintenance of different educational media.
o
This highly affect the use of new media in
education since many media is highly affected with viruses that limit the
application in education
} Also lack of knowledge to run these
media affect much on the use and application of these media in education arena.
q Expensive of most new educational
media is another problem that may hinder the use of new media in education to
enhance learning.
q Lack of democracy
The country with political instability and
demonstrations may not attract many investors to invest in education system of
the country with political instability. Things like civil war, demonstrations
and riots create insecurity to most investors as results many afraid to invest
in particular country.
Therefore
the new media plays important roles in enhancing learning in education because
help access to course materials, motivate learners or students, creates more
opportunities for extended learning, improve writing skills, increase more
participation and fulfill the language deficit.
