What are the differences between Educational Media and Educational Technology?

Educational media is a type of media that is used to educate people. Educational media can include computer programs, television shows and radio broadcasts.

Types of Educational

media

.Educational media can be categorised  into two categories

}  Traditional media; These are ancient locally produced and used by our fore father to communicate information example language, drums, signs, songs, pictures, dances, prints and simple machine.

Modern media

}  These are more recent media that appear to be new or modern in society. They are either produced locally or imported easily. These may include electronics technology or equipment's such as computer, TV and camera

Educational technology

}  Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources.

The following are the differences between educational media and educational technology

}  Educational media is a physical manifestation, form or means or instrument used to convey thoughts, emotions and expression of education task or matter while Education technology refers to physical tools, elements and methods used to complete different educational specialized task.

}   

Example of instrument that used to convey thoughts is computer.

Example of method used to complete specialized task

Educational media consists instructional machines and material used  to promote teaching and learning process.

while in Educational technology there is integration which involve peoples, procedure  and device for analyze educational problems.

.Educational  media act as a means of communication available for education purpose rather than teacher himself or herself while Educational technology focus on systematic way of designing, carrying out and evaluating the total process of learning and teaching in the terms of specific objectives.

Educational media focus on the use of those discoveries technology to meet the needs of the learners in educational technology  matter while Educational technology focus on the use of  invention and discoveries to satisfy educational needs and desire in learning

Educational media is a channel used to transmit knowledge so as to reach many people fori stance magazine, radio while Educational technology simply teaching using a machine to reach many people example computer.

Educational media teacher is responsible  in choosing what kind of instructional media to promote teaching and learning while Educational technology teacher and students involving in facilitating the whole process of learning and teaching by accompanied with different devices such visual, audio and visual  audio.

In educational technology both teacher and learners are involved in learning process

}  Education media are chosen or developed  within the development stage of instructional technology while educational technology used in the development  of material that can be utilized in educational practice.

Conclusion

}  Despite having some difference from educational media and Educational technology, but in application especially in educational context can not be separated since are interdependent. These means that when teacher think on designing and preparing material to be delivered in classroom teaching and learning, also should think on the type of media to be used in delivering such materials. There fore, These are two sides of the same coin.
